James McKinney M.D.
Adult, Adolescent and Child Psychiatry
Practice Description & Policies
What to Expect
New patients are evaluated during a 75 minute diagnostic interview. After a careful review of the client’s medical and psychiatric history and obtaining background information the client is allowed to talk freely about the current issues.
Initial diagnostic impressions and treatment considerations are discussed at the end of this meeting. Close monitoring of your progress is an essential part of optimal care. Subsequent follow-up visits are scheduled based on individual needs. The time between visits may be extended once significant therapeutic progress is made.
Fees And Insurance
I offer care tailored to the individualized needs of each patient. I do not follow treatment regimens or programs dictated by insurance companies. Consequently, I do not participate in managed care or insurance networks of any type. My practice is strictly a fee-for-service basis. The fee schedule is reviewed with you when you contact our office. We can provide a detailed receipt for your records should you wish to file the claim with your insurance provider.
Payment is due in full at the time services are rendered. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card/HSA card. Patients are responsible for promptly meeting at reserved appointment times.
Cancellations
Patients are required to give at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. Also, Monday appointments must be cancelled by the Friday prior. You will be charged for late cancellations and missed appointments.
Please note, our office does NOT make reminder calls. It is the patient’s responsibility to keep up with their appointments.
Prescriptions
Please allow at least 48 hours for all prescription requests. Please remember we are CLOSED on Fridays and major holidays. Please give your physician proper notice if you are in need of refills BEFORE Fridays/holidays and BEFORE your medication runs out.
Availability

In order to maintain active patient status and receive medication refills, patients are expected to regularly schedule and keep appointments as medically necessary and determined by the practice.
